The Shelby Public School Board of Education seeks qualified candidates for the SPS School Board. A vacancy has been opened due to a recent resignation effective August 21, 2023. The term will expire in November of 2024 in line with the next election cycle.
The Shelby Public School Board of Education members serve on various committees including finance, personnel and curriculum, negotiations and policy, building and grounds, and athletic committees. Board Members also represent the Shelby Public School at the State and local level through the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
Shelby Public School Board meetings are held in the evenings, on the third Monday of each month. There may be special meetings or workshops scheduled. Area residents interested in becoming candidates can apply by submitting a letter of interest addressed to Jason Fleming, School Board President. Letters can be dropped off or mailed to Shelby Public Schools - Central Business Office at, 525 N State St, Shelby, MI 49455. Please include why you would like to serve on the SPS Board and a brief resume of service and experience that would benefit your work as a Board member.
